הקשר בין חג הגאולה י"ט כסלו ליום ג' שהוכפל בו כי טוב - "טוב לשמים וטוב לבריות": מסופר שלאחרי שיצא אדה"ז ממאסרו הובל ב"טעות" לדירתו של מתנגד, וישב שם שלש שעות עד שגילו החסידים אותו. לפני שיצא [בליל כ' כסלו], אמר אדה"ז שמשום כבוד האכסניא ישתה את הכוס תה שהכינו לו. והנה פשוט שאצל נשיא בישראל לא שייך "טעות" ובפרט לפי הידוע שכל המאסר הי' בהסכמתו, וא"כ לא מובן מה הכוונה בזה שלאחרי הגאולה ישב אדה"ז בביתו של מתנגד שלוש שעות ולהצטער שם כ"כ וכו'?! והביאור: בזה התבטא ה"טוב לבריות" של אדה"ז: שגם "ברי'" כזה, שגם לאחרי שראה את גאולת אדה"ז ציער אותו כל כך, כיבד אותו אדה"ז בשתיית כוס תה! ומזה הוראה נפלאה עד כמה חשוב ה"טוב לבריות"! ועוד.

The connection between 19 Kislev, the holiday of liberation, and Tuesday, when “‘it was good’ was said twice – good toward Heaven and good toward people (lit. ‘creations’)”: After the Alter Rebbe was released from prison, instead of being brought to the home where he was staying, he was brought to the home of a misnaged, who took the opportunity to harass the Alter Rebbe and cause him tremendous distress. The Alter Rebbe remained there for three hours before the Chassidim found him; before leaving the misnaged’s home (on the night of 20 Kislev), the Alter Rebbe said that he would drink the cup of tea that had been prepared for him out of respect for his host. Obviously, for a Nasi of the Jewish people, there is no such thing as a “mistake,” especially being that the entire imprisonment took place only with his consent, as we know. If so, what was the purpose of the Alter Rebbe sitting and suffering for three hours in the house of the misnaged? The answer is that this expressed the extent to which the Alter Rebbe was “good toward people”: even though this was a “creation,” who, despite seeing the Alter Rebbe’s liberation, still took the opportunity to cause the Alter Rebbe so much distress, nevertheless the Alter Rebbe honored him by drinking a cup of tea in his home. And this serves as a wondrous lesson about the importance of being “good toward creations” etc.
